Tovino Thomas wins 48th Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actor : Bollywood News

Tovino Thomas has been awarded the Best Actor title at the 48th Kerala Film Critics Awards for his standout performances in Ajayante Randam Moshanam (A.R.M) and Anweshippin Kandethum. The recognition highlights his growing stature in Malayalam cinema, as well as his ability to take on complex and layered characters with conviction.

Known for his versatility and evolving filmography, Tovino received widespread appreciation for his portrayal of the three characters in A.R.M, seamlessly shifting between eras and personas. His performance in Anweshippin Kandethum, a crime thriller, further underscored his range and emotional depth.

A.R.M is an action-adventure film directed by debutant Jithin Laal and written by Sujith Nambiar. Produced by Magic Frames and UGM Entertainment, the film stars Tovino Thomas in triple roles, portraying characters across three distinct timelines. The cast also includes Krithi Shetty marking her Malayalam debut, along with Basil Joseph, Aishwarya Rajesh, Surabhi Lakshmi, Rohini, Shivajith, Harish Uthaman, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Aju Varghese, Sudheesh, and Biju Kuttan in significant roles.

Adding to the momentum of his recent successes, both A.R.M and the 2023 survival drama 2018 were screened at the Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival in Taipei, Taiwan. The screenings saw full houses and enthusiastic reception from international audiences. Viewers praised the narrative strength of the films as well as Tovino’s ability to carry emotionally demanding roles on his shoulders.

This isn’t Tovino’s first major recognition on a global platform. In 2023, he won the Best Asian Actor award at the Septimius Awards in Amsterdam for 2018, a film based on Kerala’s devastating floods. Over the years, he has received accolades from SIIMA, Filmfare, and Asianet for a diverse range of performances.

Having started his career with smaller roles, Tovino has risen to become one of the most dependable and bankable actors in Malayalam cinema. With films like Minnal Murali, Thallumala, 2018, and now A.R.M in his portfolio, he continues to build a loyal fan base both in India and abroad. Several new projects are in development, and the actor’s trajectory suggests there’s much more to come.
