URGENT APPEAL TO JOURNALISTS : STUDENTS OF FTI ARUNACHAL PRADESH SEEK YOUR VOICE

We, the students of the inaugural batch at the Film & Television Institute, Arunachal Pradesh, are facing dire conditions that make it nearly impossible to study or live with dignity.

Despite being India’s third national film institute, we are forced to endure:

No access to clean drinking water– leading to frequent illnesses.

Frequent and untimely power cuts – disrupting both academic and daily life.

Unfinished and unsafe academic infrastructure– classes are held in incomplete buildings.

No campus security – leaving students vulnerable at all hours.

No institutional identity – no official logo, ID cards, or even a full-time Director on campus.

Following an earlier protest in March 2025 assurances were given by the administration—but they remain unfulfilled.

In protest, the students have collectively decided to halt all academic activity from 15 May 2025 onwards, demanding urgent action to restore dignity, safety, and basic infrastructure.

We are the young filmmakers of India, and we demand an education that reflects the values of creativity, safety, and respect.

We urge journalists, media houses, filmemakers and concerned citizens to stand with us. Help amplify our voices.
